As the fall season takes hold many of you are preparing to travel to warmer climates, if not already there. Others will enjoy the crisp air and cool temperatures of the Great lakes region during the winter months. No matter the choice, as avid RVers you will want to stay abreast of the upcoming events related to GLAMA and each of its four regions, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Ontario.

Many campgrounds remain open for those wishing to experience winter camping. Those who are or were hunters prepare for the cool weather knowing that there will be lots of outdoor adventure in our beautiful areas of Canada and the United States. Make certain you prepare your RV to handle the temperatures to avoid damage to plumbing fixtures and sufficient heating resources to avoid discomfort for the inhabitants of your home on wheels.

During these months GLAMARAMA 2016 chairs will continue their efforts to again create an area rally like no other. The rally scheduled for June 8-12, 2016 will be held at the Elkhart County 4-H Fairground in Goshen Indiana. Arrangements for the three nights of all new entertainment have been secured. Incentives to promote even more vendors have been approved and put in place. While we will again enjoy the facilities in Goshen in 2016 the 2018 rally has been confirmed for a Michigan site as you will read in Jane Roush’s November 2015 GLAMA Newsletter.

What happened to GLAMARAMA 2017? Remember, when FMCA holds its national rally in the Great Lakes Area GLAMA national directors voted to focus our attention on the national rally and hold the GLAMA rally within the national family reunion that year (rally within a rally). Jane’s letter lists the major rallies we should support over the next few years to assure a strong organization with excellent member benefits.

If you have not been recruiting new members it has become really easy with the FMCAssist program. No other organization offers this excellent benefit as part of the normal dues. In other words the benefit cost members nothing to have the peace of mind to know you, your family and even your pets traveling with you will receive comprehensive assistance while 100 miles from home in case of an emergency. See FMCA.com for the details. Note: full-timers are not restricted by the 100 mile rule.

Read Jane’s newsletter to stay current on what is happening in GLAMA and FMCA. For answers to your questions feel free to contact Jane Roush, President of GLAMA jroush@fmca.com or Jim Koenig, Communications Chair, koenig.jim@gmail.com. In the meantime, safe travels and see you in Perry, Goshen and Springfield.
